Music Chart

what is going on with the commercial pop music chart at the mo? i mean, in the top 10 alone we have a dead man sampling a gay man's music, a dance remix of a ringtone and a handful of rappers who cant spell! there are 3 good tunes in the top 10 at the mo - beautiful by james blunt (such a beautiful song, no pun intended! great album). feel good inc by the gorillaz (overplayed, but still great) and shot you down by audio bullys ft. nancy sinatra (cool video). has to be said tho - the indie/rock top 10 makes up for the pop disappointment - greeday, foo fighters, funeral for a friend, slipknot, my chemical romance, audioslave and razorlight! wicked tunes. thankk god for indie rock. in the words of the killers: "its indie rock and roll for me"

Batman Begins

went to see this on saturday - great film! so much more realistic than the others, plus christian bale is gorgeous! very dark film, plot line based around the effects of hallucinogenic drugs. interesting..... lots of insane people (due to high dosage of the drugs!), batman making his own costume (!) and of course - how bruce wayne became batman. would deffo see it again - 4 stars!

Foo Fighters

another debate - what is the best foo fighters song ever? most people seem to go for the obvious (all my life). but my personal fave is monkey wrench. speak up foo fans - i need to know! WHAT IS THE BEST FOO FIGHTERS SONG EVER??!!

Drugs

interesting (drunken!) debate i was having with a mate of mine last night - if all drugs were legalised, what would happen to the crime rate in the uk? there seems to be points for both sides. the amount of burgalries would decrease as most people who commit burglary do so to fund drug habits. also (a slightly childish point - one i made of course!) , when people are told they cant do something, they are more likely to want to do it, therefore if drugs were legalised people wouldnt be so bothered about them. but then again, you have the fact that some people might want to try drugs but are too scared too due to the legal implications. also, if everyone was on drugs, it may perhaps increase violence levels. however (excellent point unfortunately not made by me this time!) euro 2000 was held in belgium and holland. the primary substance misuse of choice in belgium is alcohol, so lots of footie fans got tanked up and fights broke up. in holland, as most drugs are legal. everyone was just really happy

Lern Scouse

we've had scouse visitors this weekend, so i decided to take a little time to educate myself (and others) in the "beautiful" (!) language known as scouse:

dowse - keep a lookout for the police (how apt!)
are you swerving me? - are you avoiding me?
mug you - pay for your mate (yeah right!)
delf - cups, saucers and plates
lad - mate
bevey - alcoholic drink
goin for a jeff - goin for a piss
butty - sandwich

well i feel better knowing that! christ no wonder we can never understand them! lol
